Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) - School-Based in Jennings, LA
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our school-based team in Jennings, LA. This is a full-time position, and the ideal candidate will work closely with a team of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to support students with speech and language disorders, helping them develop their communication skills for academic success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in providing therapy services to students with speech and language disorders.
- Implement individualized therapy plans developed by SLPs.
- Conduct therapy sessions as directed by the supervising SLP, focusing on improving students' communication skills, articulation, fluency, and language development.
- Observe and record student progress during therapy sessions.
- Assist in conducting screenings and assessments under the guidance of an SLP.
- Provide support and reinforcement for speech therapy activities and exercises.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions and progress reports.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other school staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Follow all school policies and procedures to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
- Louisiana State certification for SLPA (Speech-Language Pathology Assistant) or eligibility for certification.
- Previous experience working as an SLPA in a school setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of speech and language disorders, therapy techniques, and child development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and follow directions from supervising SLPs.
- Passion for working with children and helping them reach their full communication potential.
