Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Full Time
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for the 24/25 school year in Merced, CA, supporting a district-wide elementary caseload. This full-time position will focus on providing speech and language services to students across multiple elementary schools. The role requires an SLPA who is skilled in delivering therapy, conducting screenings, and working collaboratively with Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and classroom teachers to meet the needs of students with communication challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Conduct speech and language screenings to identify students who may benefit from services
- Implement individual and small group therapy sessions for students with speech and language impairments
- Document student progress, maintain treatment records, and report on progress toward Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other professionals to support students’ communication development and academic success
- Support students with social communication, articulation, language delays, and fluency issues
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all HIPAA and FERPA regulations
- Assist in providing consultation to teachers and staff on strategies to enhance communication in the classroom
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEP goals and objectives
- Provide professional development support to staff on speech and language topics
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field
- Completion of an SLPA program approved by the state of California
- California SLPA license required (or eligibility for licensure)
- Experience working with children in a school or clinical setting preferred
- Knowledge of speech and language development, articulation disorders, language delays, and other communication disorders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with students, teachers, parents, and other school professionals
- Knowledge of IEP processes and special education services
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with district policies
Certifications and Licenses:
- California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license required
