Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and/or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for a school-based position in Northampton, MA. The ideal candidates will work with students to improve their communication abilities, supporting their academic and social development.

Responsibilities:

For SLP:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services using evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to support student progress.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide expert recommendations for accommodations and interventions.
  • Educate and support school staff and parents on strategies to aid students’ speech and language development.

For SLPA:

  • Assist the SLP in implementing therapy plans and providing direct therapy services to students.
  • Support students with activities designed to improve their communication skills under the supervision of the SLP.
  • Document student progress and assist with maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the SLP, teachers, and parents to support student goals.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to the development of therapy plans.

Qualifications:

For SLP:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Massachusetts SLP license.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

For SLPA:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
  • Valid Massachusetts SLPA license.
  • Previous experience in a school setting is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of an SLP.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
