Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) School-Based Role in New Britain, CT
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in New Britain, CT. In this school-based position, you will have the opportunity to work directly with students, helping them develop essential speech and language skills that support their academic and social success. As a key member of the educational team, your expertise will contribute to the overall development and well-being of students in a collaborative, supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments to identify the needs of students and develop individualized therapy plans.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students, helping them improve articulation, language comprehension, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to implement strategies for supporting students in the classroom and across other school settings.
- Monitor student progress and modify therapy plans as needed to ensure success.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for students’ speech and language goals.
- Maintain thorough documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, and student progress.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment where students feel supported and encouraged to grow their communication skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents to update them on student progress and provide recommendations for at-home practice.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid Connecticut state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligibility to obtain.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred, but Clinical Fellows (CFs) are welcome to apply.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals.
- Experience working in school settings is a plus, but not required.
