Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The SLP will provide services to students with speech, language, and communication challenges. This is a school-based role, supporting students from preschool through high school to improve communication skills, thereby fostering their academic and social success.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
- Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Implement therapy sessions for students with diverse communication needs.
- Provide consultation and training to teachers, parents, and staff on speech and language development and disorders.
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, assessments, and progress.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and team meetings.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and legal requirements in the field of speech-language pathology.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate communication goals into academic instruction.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current Delaware State Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the Delaware Board of Speech Pathology, Audiology, and Hearing Aid Dispensers.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- Delaware Department of Education Certification for Speech-Language Pathologists.
- License in School-Based Practice (if required by the district).
- Prior experience in a school-based setting preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws related to special education and speech-language pathology.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of IEP development and execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a school setting, working directly with students, teachers, and parents. Travel between schools in the Wilmington area may be required depending on student caseload.
