Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our school-based team. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, and communication disorders in students from preschool through 12th grade. This role involves collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to help students achieve their communication goals and succeed academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and treatment plans tailored to student needs.
  • Provide direct therapy to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students’ communication skills in the classroom.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide updates on student progress, recommendations, and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation according to school district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Provide consultation and resources to families to support speech and language development.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Connecticut State License in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred but not mandatory for entry-level).
  • Connecticut Initial Educator Certificate with a Speech and Language Pathology Endorsement (061) from the Connecticut State Department of Education.
  • Previous experience working with school-aged children in a school setting is preferred.

Required Certifications and Clearances:

  • Valid Connecticut State SLP License.
  • Connecticut Educator Certificate in Speech and Language Pathology (Endorsement 061).
  • ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) (preferred).
  • Criminal Background Check clearance.
  • Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting.
  • TB Test clearance.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in public schools or with school-aged children.
  • Strong knowledge of the IEP process and special education regulations in Connecticut.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
