Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our educational team. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and provide treatment for students with speech and language disorders. This role requires collaboration with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment that promotes students’ communication skills and overall academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of students to identify speech and language disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and students’ specific needs.
  • Provide direct therapy to students with communication disorders in individual and group settings.
  • Monitor and document students' progress toward goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop strategies that support students’ communication needs in the classroom.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals.
  • Educate staff and parents about speech and language development, communication disorders, and effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology and special education.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure:
    • Must hold a valid Minnesota State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
    • Must have completed the required clinical fellowship year (CFY) or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP):
    • Obtain certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be in the process of obtaining it.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledge of Laws:
    • Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding special education and speech-language services.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move around the classroom.
  • Capacity to manage students’ physical and emotional needs, including implementing de-escalation strategies when necessary.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position during the academic year with the possibility of summer work.
