Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in a school-based setting. The successful candidate will support students' communication and language development, enabling them to achieve academic and social success. This role involves collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in school-aged children.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Provide direct therapy to students in one-on-one, small group, or classroom settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student progress.
- Conduct screenings and evaluations to identify speech and language difficulties.
- Document and report progress towards IEP goals and state requirements.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Licensure and Certification:
- Hold a valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred but not required for all roles.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain an Arkansas Teaching License with a Speech-Language Pathology endorsement through the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE).
- Completion of a criminal background check as required by Arkansas law.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Experience:
- Experience working with school-aged children in an educational or clinical setting is highly preferred.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development and language acquisition.
- Proficient in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and other tools to support communication.
