Speech Language Pathologist (School Based)

Full-Time School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Katy, Texas

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dedicated team at a school in Katy, Texas. This full-time position will involve providing speech and language therapy to students across a variety of grade levels, helping them overcome communication challenges and succeed in their educational journey. The ideal candidate will hold their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA and be committed to making a positive impact on students’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment and Diagnosis:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify students’ needs, including articulation, fluency, language, and social communication challenges.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic results and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure the appropriate support.
  • Review and interpret assessment data, making recommendations for services and adjustments to instructional practices when needed.

• Therapeutic Intervention:

  • Provide direct and individualized therapy to students, addressing speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Use evidence-based methods to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Work with students on skills such as articulation, language comprehension, fluency, social communication, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) if applicable.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.

• Collaboration and Consultation:

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and other school professionals to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
  • Provide guidance and professional development to staff on supporting students' communication needs in various educational settings.
  • Regularly communicate with parents regarding students’ progress and offer strategies for supporting speech and language development at home.

• Compliance and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP goals.
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with state and federal regulations, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
  • Participate in IEP meetings, offering expertise and insights to develop appropriate goals and objectives for students.

Qualifications:

• Required:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Valid Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in a school-based setting (new graduates are welcome to apply).

• Preferred:

  • Experience with students who have autism, language disorders, and/or speech impairments.
  • Knowledge of AAC devices and assistive technology.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:

• Competitive pay starting at $42 per hour for qualified candidates.
• Pay is commensurate with experience and additional qualifications.
