Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our school team. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students in improving their communication skills. This role is vital in helping students overcome speech and language challenges, contributing to their academic and personal success in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students as outlined by the supervising SLP
- Assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and communication goals
- Prepare materials and organize therapy sessions to meet student needs
- Collect and document data on student progress and report to the supervising SLP
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support students in the classroom
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field
- SLPA licensure or certification as required by [State] regulations
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of speech and language developmental milestones and therapy techniques
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
