Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team in York, PA. This full-time, on-site role involves supporting the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in delivering speech and language services, particularly to students with a high population of autism.
Responsibilities:
- Caseload Support: Assist in providing speech and language services to a caseload capped at 65 students, including 1:1 sessions and small group interventions.
- Assessment Assistance: Support the SLP in conducting assessments and evaluating speech and language needs of students.
- Intervention Support: Implement therapy plans developed by the SLP, focusing on improving communication skills for students, particularly those with autism.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the SLP, teachers, special education staff, and families to support students' communication needs and contribute to their educational progress.
- Problem Solving: Be proactive and solution-oriented in addressing challenges, and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Active SLPA certification in Pennsylvania is required.
- Education: Associate's Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
- Experience: Experience working with students with autism and in a school setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work collaboratively with educational staff and families, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Commitment: Punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential to contribute effectively to the team and support students' needs.
