School Speech Language Pathologist - SLP
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Lansing, MI. This position involves providing high-quality educational support for students with various disabilities, fostering academic and social-emotional growth, and promoting a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a Michigan Standard or Professional Teaching Certificate with any of the following endorsements:
- Cognitive Impairment
- Speech & Language Impairment
- Physical or Other Health Impairment
- Emotional Impairment
- Learning Disabilities
- Physical Education for Students with Disabilities
- Autism
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse disabilities, ensuring that each student’s needs are met.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in both inclusive and self-contained classroom settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and data collection.
- Conduct IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay up-to-date on best practices for special education.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Provide support in behavior management and social-emotional learning as needed.
Qualifications:
- Michigan Standard or Professional Teaching Certificate with one or more of the following endorsements:
- Cognitive Impairment
- Speech & Language Impairment
- Physical or Other Health Impairment
- Emotional Impairment
- Learning Disabilities
- Physical Education for Students with Disabilities
- Autism
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities preferred.
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
