We are currently seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to work with early intervention and elementary students in Providence, RI. This position offers a full-time opportunity with a 225-day contract for the upcoming school year.
Position Overview:
As an SLP, you will work directly with at-risk youth in early intervention and elementary school settings, providing speech and language services to help students overcome communication challenges. Your work will involve assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech and language disorders, with a focus on supporting students who may have intense behaviors. Experience with such cases is preferred, as you’ll play a key role in shaping the communication development of students who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language therapy services to students with a range of speech and language disorders.
- Work with early intervention and elementary students, focusing on those with intense behaviors and communication delays.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Conduct thorough assessments and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure students receive appropriate support.
- Provide counseling and strategies for managing behaviors related to communication disorders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and therapy sessions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- State Licensure and certification to practice as an SLP in Rhode Island.
- Experience working with at-risk youth and students exhibiting intense behaviors is strongly preferred.
- Experience in early intervention and elementary school settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Passion for helping students achieve their communication goals and succeed academically.
