Job Description:
As a School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic and social success by addressing their speech and language needs within the school environment. Your work will involve assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapy for a range of communication disorders that impact students' ability to participate in the educational setting effectively.
Key Responsibilities;
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students to identify speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. Use a variety of assessment tools and observational techniques to determine students' needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to gather information and develop a complete picture of each student’s communication abilities and challenges.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the educational team, including teachers, school counselors, and parents.
- Set clear, achievable goals for each student’s speech and language development and design intervention strategies that align with their educational needs.

Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide direct therapy services to students to improve articulation, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and social communication skills.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and tailored therapeutic activities to address individual student needs and enhance their participation in classroom activities.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to support students’ communication needs and integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.
- Provide training and support to teachers and staff on strategies to support students with speech and language disorders.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans.
- Prepare detailed reports on student progress for IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school evaluations.
- Family and Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies to support learning at home.
- Participate in school and community events to promote awareness of speech and language development and advocate for students’ needs.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with the latest research, techniques, and best practices in speech-language pathology.
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Arkansas. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.

Experience: Experience working in a school setting or with children is highly desirable. New graduates with strong clinical training and a passion for working in educational environments are also encouraged to apply.
