Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred).
- Vermont Department of Education license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required for school-based practice).
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students with diverse communication needs and disabilities is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools and treatment methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements:
- Completion of background checks as required by Vermont state law for school personnel.
- Compliance with district health and safety policies.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, helping them reach their full potential in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
- Provide therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, tailored to students' specific needs.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and technology in speech-language pathology.
