Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Tennessee Department of Health.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred).
- Tennessee Department of Education certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required for school-based work).
- Experience:
- Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students with communication disorders, including speech, language, and voice disorders, is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to assess and design appropriate therapy programs based on students' needs.
- Effective collaboration skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements:
- Completion of background checks and fingerprinting as required by Tennessee state law for school employees.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- Compliance with district health and safety policies.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, helping them reach their full potential in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
- Provide therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, tailored to students' specific needs.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and technology in speech-language pathology.
