Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist License issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred).
- New York State certification in Speech-Language Pathology, issued by the Office of Teaching Initiatives (required for school-based work).
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with students with diverse communication needs is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively assess and implement evidence-based therapy practices.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals.
Requirements:
- Background check and fingerprint clearance as required by New York State law for school personnel.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- Compliance with school district health and safety policies.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, helping them reach their full potential in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
- Provide therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, tailored to students' specific needs.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and technology in speech-language pathology.
