Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Licensure and Certification:
    • Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred).
    • Vermont Department of Education license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required for school-based practice).
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required.
    • Experience working with students with diverse communication needs and disabilities is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools and treatment methods.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Completion of background checks as required by Vermont state law for school personnel.
  • Compliance with district health and safety policies.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, helping them reach their full potential in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
  • Provide therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, tailored to students' specific needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
  • Stay current with best practices, research, and technology in speech-language pathology.
