Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – School-Based Position
About the Role:
We are excited to offer a full-time opportunity for a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team across multiple schools within our district near Lincolnshire. As an SLP, you will work directly with students of various age groups to diagnose, treat, and support students with speech and language disorders. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and working within a supportive and collaborative school environment.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students with a range of communication disorders, including articulation, language delays, fluency, and voice disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students’ speech and language needs and create individualized treatment plans based on findings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs), setting measurable goals for student progress.
- Monitor and document student progress, ensuring all records are accurate and in compliance with district and state regulations.
- Attend and actively contribute to IEP meetings, providing expert input and recommendations for student goals and objectives.
- Work closely with school staff to create a supportive, inclusive learning environment that fosters communication development and academic success.
- Manage a caseload of students, ensuring timely and effective delivery of therapy services while maintaining a balanced workload.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of the speech-language program within the district.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the state of practice.
- ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for certification.
- Experience in school-based speech therapy, including familiarity with IEP development and implementation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
- A deep commitment to working with children and making a positive impact on their communication skills and academic success.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including teachers, special education staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with diverse student populations and providing therapy to students with a range of communication challenges.
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities, with the ability to serve a diverse student body.
- Previous experience with a full range of disabilities and varying levels of severity.
