Position: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
Location: El Paso, Texas

Educational and Certification Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following federal and state criteria:

  • Educational Background:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders from an accredited institution, including at least 24 semester credit hours in speech-language pathology and/or audiology.
  • Completion of 25 hours of clinical observation and 25 hours of clinical assisting experience.
  • Certification:

  • Active licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in Texas, as mandated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • For degrees earned more than 10 years ago, proof of current knowledge in the field is required, which may include recent continuing education, holding a current license in another state, or current ASHA certification.

    Key Responsibilities:

    As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, your role will encompass:

  • Therapy Implementation: Execute treatment programs or Individual Education Programs (IEPs) designed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Screenings: Conduct or participate in speech, language, and hearing screenings.
  • Data Collection: Gather and document data on student progress and performance.
  • Material Preparation: Develop and organize instructional materials for therapy sessions.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and up-to-date clinical records as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the supervising SLP, educators, and parents to support student success.
