A school District in New York, NY is looking for a dedicated Contract Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team for the full school year. This position involves working with K-5 students for 15 hours per week, providing high-quality speech and language therapy services. The ideal candidate will have experience in elementary education settings and a passion for helping young learners improve their communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech, language, and communication abilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's needs.
- Provide direct therapy services to K-5 students with speech and language disorders.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication needs in the classroom.
- Monitor and document students' progress towards therapy goals and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on speech and language goals for students with special education needs.
- Educate and support teachers and parents on strategies to improve communication skills in students.
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
Requirements:
- Valid New York State license and certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Proven experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a K-5 setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate speech and language therapy techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive therapy environment.
- Proficiency in using technology for therapy and documentation purposes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Education:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
