General Statement of Job:
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will assist students with special communicative needs to maximize their communicative potential. Your role involves addressing deficits or abnormalities in articulation, language, voice, and fluency. You will coordinate services with educational staff and families, and handle Medicaid billing for eligible students. You will report to the principal(s) of your assigned school(s) or the Exceptional Children’s Preschool Handicapped Lead Teacher if center-based. All positions report to the Program Administrator of Exceptional Children and the Executive Director of Exceptional Children.
Essential Job Functions:
- Planning and Oversight: Organize and coordinate the school program, maintain records, and manage Medicaid billing profiles and therapy notes.
- Screening, Testing, Diagnosing, and Advising: Conduct screenings, diagnostic testing, and provide recommendations regarding programs and services. Supervise speech-language assistants and clinical fellows if applicable.
- Developing Individual Education Programs: Develop and collaborate on individual education plans with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Managing and Conducting Therapy: Plan and deliver therapy, manage resources, and promote professional growth.
- Liaison: Provide consultation, seek assistance, and make recommendations and referrals for service implementation.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association
- Must hold a G License from the NC Department of Public Instruction
- License from the Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists is a plus
