Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Texas.
  • Experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and experience in creating and implementing speech therapy goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to helping students improve their communication skills.

Job Duties:

As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will work closely with students to assess, treat, and support their speech and language development. The role involves a variety of therapeutic, evaluative, and collaborative tasks. Key duties include:

  • Assessment & Evaluation: Conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students, including diagnostic assessments of articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication skills.
  • Individualized Therapy: Developing and implementing individualized therapy plans for students with speech and language disorders, focusing on articulation, language, social communication, and fluency.
  • IEP Development: Collaborating with special education teams to create and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students, setting measurable goals and objectives for speech and language therapy.
  • Therapy Sessions: Providing direct therapy to students in individual or group settings, working on improving speech, language, social communication, and overall academic achievement.
  • Progress Monitoring: Tracking student progress and adjusting therapy plans as needed to ensure that goals are being met. Regularly reporting progress to parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Behavioral Support: Supporting students with behavior challenges that affect their communication and helping to develop positive strategies for communication.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to provide comprehensive support to students and ensure effective implementation of therapy plans in the classroom.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of student evaluations, therapy plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.
  • Parent & Teacher Communication: Regularly communicating with parents and teachers about students' progress, discussing concerns, and providing recommendations for home-based speech and language activities.
  • Assistive Technology: Implementing and monitoring the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and other assistive technology tools to support students' communication needs.
  • Professional Development: Staying current with the latest speech-language pathology practices, research, and methodologies to ensure the highest quality of care and treatment for students.
